The date is finally here. We first told you about Netflix’s future fate of losing all four seasons of The Good Place back in 2022, and September 2025 is when that will begin coming true, at least for those in the United States. Here’s an updated guide to when The Good Place is leaving Netflix.

We first reported on the removal date in mid-2022 in partnership with The Wrap’s Brandon Katz. Most of those removal dates have come true thus far, albeit Breaking Bad was ultimately renewed, and NCIS scored a partial renewal of sorts, although many seasons did depart.  Still on that list yet to leave the US includes Supernatural, Gilmore Girls, Seinfeld, and Shameless, all coming up within the next year. Of course, all of that comes with the caveat that they may get renewed.

On the air from 2016 through 2020, the Michael Schur comedy saw multiple dead people arrive in the good place, but one of them doesn’t belong. She has to figure out how to blend in. The cast includes Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, D’Arcy Carden, Manny Jacinto, and Ted Danson.

Netflix US Losing The Good Place in September 2025

The date for The Good Place was fairly easy to predict, as it follows the same schedule as most other licensed shows from NBC throughout the late 2010s. Netflix licenses a show for the lifetime of the show’s run and then keeps the title for five years before it departs.

That’s happening with The Good Place, which saw its fourth and final season touch down on September 26th, 2020. Now, five years later (where does the time go!), it’s time for Netflix to bid adieu. Your last day to watch the series will be on September 25th, 2025, with the actual removal the following day at midnight local time.

You can find more removals planned throughout September 2025 here.

Where will the show stream next? Its natural home, given that NBC Universal owns the underlying rights to the show, is on Peacock, and that’s exactly where we suspect it’ll head next, although timelines have yet to be confirmed. You can also find a bunch of clips for the show on YouTube.

Netflix Internationally Will Continue To Stream For Another Year

Outside the United States, the show will continue streaming beyond the US’s removal date, although the clock is definitely ticking.

Our intel suggests Netflix has the rights through September 26th, 2026, meaning you’ve got just a year longer than the US, despite the show carrying Netflix Original branding.

Of course, Netflix did poach two of the main leads for series of their own. Kristen Bell currently leads the romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This, which returns for season 2 in October 2025. Ted Danson also leads his own Netflix comedy series, A Man on the Inside, which has wrapped filming on season 2 and is due out soon. That show is also a creation of Michael Schur! Many other members of the cast can also be found in Netflix Originals, too!

Are you disappointed that The Good Place is leaving Netflix soon?
