The UXi Sport family grieves the sudden, tragic passing of alumni Randy Fillies, a brother, friend, exceptional player who left deep boot prints in our lives and hearts.
Randy began his UXi Sport journey in 2020 at the UXi Griquas Rugby Institute, where he proudly represented the Griquas U20 side and, by 2021, had earned the opportunity to train with the senior group.
In 2022, he transferred to the UXi Western Province International Rugby Institute, where his hard work and dedication continued to shine. That same year, he earned a spot in the Griffons U21 team — and soon after, made his senior debut for the Griffons with a professional contract in hand.
Randy’s journey is a testament to resilience, hard work, and belief in one’s dreams. He was an inspiration to his teammates and a role model for many of our current students. His presence will be missed, but the impact he made will live on in the hearts and minds of all who trained alongside him.
Today, we play to honour the life and journey of Randy Fillies.
💙🏉 Thank you, Randy, for showing us what true dedication looks like. We are proud to have been part of your journey.
