Netflix has secured the streaming rights to Orphan Black, bringing Tatiana Maslany’s Emmy-winning, chameleon-like performance to its library for the first time in the US.

Airing on BBC America between 2013 and 2017, the sci-fi thriller series came from creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett. It ran for five seasons across 50 episodes, which will all touch down on Netflix in the United States beginning on September 1st, 2025. Throughout its run, the series picked up a number of awards and is well regarded to this day.

Orphan Black follows Sarah Manning, a street-smart outsider who witnesses the suicide of a woman who looks exactly like her. When she assumes the stranger’s identity, she’s thrust into a world of scientific conspiracies and discovers she is a clone. The series is a thrilling ride, full of twists, turns, and incredible performances from Maslany, who plays a dozen distinct clones with breathtaking skill.

Dylan Bruce, Jordan Gavaris, Kevin Hanchard, Michael Mando, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Evelyne Brochu, and Ari Millen round out the cast.

A spin-off series was later commissioned by AMC titled Orphan Black: Echoes with Kysten Ritter leading the cast. Sadly, though, that didn’t last long and was canceled after a single season.

As you may know, Netflix has deep ties with Orphan Black, even though it’s never been streamed in the US before. That’s because Netflix in the United Kingdom carries and continues to carry the series exclusively and is even labeled as a Netflix Original title there. It was also licensed in select international territories, such as Australia, but began departing in 2019 and in other regions in 2021. Netflix UK will continue to stream the series through March 2026.

In the United States, the show has been exclusive to AMC+ for the past few years, where the show continues to stream to this day and will continue to even though it’s also heading to Netflix. This marks just the latest show associated with AMC to touch down on Netflix. As we’ve been covering, Netflix US has been picking up some of the biggest and best shows from AMC in the US over the past year, although many are due to cycle off of the service imminently (although we’re told some will stay/be renewed).
