Happy Friday! It’s been a busy week here at What’s on Netflix with lots of stories breaking throughout the week and next week is looking busy too! What can you stream right now on Netflix? Here’s your deep dive into everything new on the streamer over the past seven days.

Vanessa Kirby is having quite the summer with Fantastic Four and now this grounded and intense drama Night Always Comes finally drops on Netflix having filmed last year.
Based on the best-selling novel by Willy Vlautin, the movie follows “Lynette, a flawed, yet determined, anti-heroine who embarks on a dangerous, one-night odyssey through Portland’s criminal underbelly in a desperate attempt to gather enough cash to keep her family from eviction.”
Sadly, our review isn’t yet published because we weren’t given advanced screening, but the second we do, you’ll find it on our What to Watch section. Perhaps why those screeners were hard to come by is because reviews have been pretty mixed thus far, with it only carrying a 58% on RottenTomatoes right now. The Guardian writes in their review, “Night Always Comes tries to be both seat-edge action thriller and searing social issue drama and while Caron is able to squeeze suspense out of the early, frenetic moments, there’s not enough emotional weight to the more human final act.”

As we first reported, Netflix has picked up the license to Quantum Leap, the continuation/revival/reboot of the classic sci-fi show with fresh faces but plenty of connection to the original shows. Sadly cut short after only two seasons after a shock cancelation, the show is still absolutely worthy of your time though with the show following the events 3 decades after the original with Sam Beckett having vanished into his time-travel experiment. We pick up with physicist Ben Song and his team controversially reopening the project and trying to solve the mystery.
Our understanding is that Netflix got a very short license on this show with it only currently set to stream for six months before saying adieu. If you want to watch – plan to do so quickly!

Looking at the top 10s below, we can tell that many of you have already discovered this Gerard Butler action thriller that dropped on Netflix late last week but we wanted to give it yet another nod here. A popcorn action movie in every sense, critics didn’t take kindly to this movie when it first dropped in theaters two years ago but it has become a bit of a fan-favorite.
The official sysnopsi reads as follows, “An undercover CIA operative gets stuck in hostile territory in Afghanistan after his mission is exposed. Accompanied by his translator, he must fight enemy combatants as he tries to reach an extraction point in Kandahar.”
