Love Take Two Episode 4 Recap

The episode opens with Sun-yeong accidentally revealing to Hyo-ri that Ji-an is planning on buying and rebuilding the mansion for them to stay together. Of course, Hyo-ri is unhappy about the idea and goes to the abandoned house with Ji-an, leaving her shocked and confused. For some reason, Bo-hyeong and Tae-oh join them, and the latter is completely enamoured by the rustic surroundings. It’s a hilarious situation, and although Hyo-ri is completely against the idea, Ji-an tries to tell her her “fantastic” ideas. They go down as well as one might imagine!

The next morning, Hyo-ri helps Bo-hyeong out at the flower farm and immediately gets into a silly verbal altercation with Kim So-yeon. As the adults discuss rebuilding the dilapidated house, Bo-hyeong and Hyo-ri get closer to one another, spending a calm and playful afternoon together. That night, Hyo-ri decides to go to Seoul the next day while Ji-an and Jeong-seok at remodelling the house.

Hyo-ri meets Sook and tells her about her illness, and although she thinks the worst will happen, Sook has a mature reaction to this devastating news, encouraging her to love her life the best she can. Back at the village, Ji-an calls in her work colleagues to help her build the house and ends up getting drunk. When Hyo-ri arrives at the restaurant, she is overwhelmed with the stories of her mother during her time working at construction sites. Afterwards, Jeong-seok and Ji-an share their insecurities with one another, but she soon falls asleep, leaving Hyo-ri and Jeong-seok to open up to one another.

The subsequent conversation and the previous stories about her mother leave Hyo-ri more sympathetic to Ji-an’s woes, and she ends up caving to her demands of rebuilding the abandoned house. After days of hard work and with everyone’s help, the house is quickly remade beautifully, and after the mother-daughter pair move in, they get a surprise visit from Ji-an’s mother, Moon-hee.

Love Take Two Episode 4 Review

Love Take Two might have been my favourite drama for 4 whole episodes, but this last addition is throwing me for a loop. Why do we need Ji-an’s mother in this mix? Where has she come from? How does she know that they are here? There are several questions that don’t require answers because the story simply doesn’t require this random character. Of course, this isn’t to say that I don’t want to watch Kim Mi-kyung in a drama – she’s always a good idea. But it’s still baffling to see that this is how we are getting conflicts now. Maybe it will work out, but it’s not boding well.

Either way, I enjoyed the rest of the episode. It’s funny, and the improved relationship between Ji-an and Hyo-ri makes things sweet. You understand both of their perspectives in different ways and realise that this is a losing war until Hyo-ri is mature enough to understand her mother’s perspective. We have all been there, and maybe that’s why it stings a bit more. Either way, it’s a great watch.
