Katie Price accused of trying to ‘overshadow daughter Princess as rift deepens’

KATIE Price has been accused of trying to “overshadow” her daughter Princess amid the ongoing “rift”.

For the past few months, cameras have followed Princess around as she launches her influencing career, having already signed money-spinning deals with brands including Morphe and Superdrug.

But Katie has been nowhere to be seen – not even when her daughter had an 18th birthday party.

The former glamour model, 47, said on her latest podcast that she was banned from attending Princess’s 18th birthday party in June due to filming.

Katie told listeners: “Princess was like ‘I’m having a party’. And I wasn’t invited because it was for filming.”

But now a source has claimed that Katie “missed a planned meet-up” with Princess on the morning of her 18th birthday because she was abroad.

They told the Mirror that Katie has been trying to “insert herself” into Princess’s career and her “attention-seeking” behaviour just 24 hours before her new ITV show aired was to “overshadow” the launch.

“It was all in the diary but then Katie claimed she couldn’t make it as she was abroad. It was disappointing,” a source told the publication.

“For Katie to then say she was banned from the afternoon’s filmed party when she was the no-show in the morning is just beyond belief.”

On her latest podcast instalment, Katie admitted her frustrations, saying: “I’m not making money off my daughter. So I am fuming about the situation, but at the same time, I want Princess to do well and I back her in every way.

“The family, we’re all fuming about it. How, again, not one member of our family or anything are involved in anything Princess does.”

She added: “I have not been allowed to go on any photoshoots, signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that.

“I’m not welcome.”

But the source insisted that Katie should not have “made it all about her” the eve of her daughter’s show, regardless of what’s happened.

While another source said it was “unfair” for Princess to be forced to deal with this fallout so publicly before her big TV career move.

The Sun has reached out to a rep for Katie.

KATIE FIRES BACK

The upset mum-of-five has bashed those working with her daughter after The Sun revealed her secret heartache about being cut out of her TV show.

Discussing her upset on her podcast, Katie, 47, told sister Sophie that although she supports Princess no matter what, the situation has left her “insulted” and struggling mentally.

Addressing The Sun’s article, Katie said: “They’ve told the truth in it. If you actually read it, there’s not a fib.

“I’m not allowed and I’m not welcome.

“But what hurts my feelings, and it does upset me, is when your kids grow up, you go to their assemblies, you go to their Christmas things, you go to their awards, you go to their football matches or gymnastics, you’re involved in everything they do.

“And knowing that what my career has been, Princess is taking that same path, trying to do the same as what I’ve done, which I absolutely love and adore of Princess.

“But I have not been allowed to go on any photo shoot, no signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that.”

We told earlier this week how telly bosses deliberately cut the former glamour model out of forthcoming ITV2 show, The Princess Diaries, because it is “not good for Princess to be seen with Katie”.

In a bid to market the youngster as a pretty, middle-class influencer, they even turned down Katie’s team’s offer to film for free for three days.

Katie ranted: “And it puts Princess in a situation because I don’t want her to feel she has to choose between me and her work because I want her to do well.”

“And I have said to Princess, just see how it feels for me because I should be there supporting you.

“I want to be there to support you like my family did. And I’m your mum and especially as you’re doing stuff that I did, I’m proud of you and want to be there.”

But it does mean she has made the decision not to watch it.

“I won’t be watching the show and I won’t be promoting the show, because I don’t need it rubbed in my face of everyone playing Happy Families,” she said.

Revealing the extent of how much she claims to have been pushed out, Katie continued: “They won’t allow Princess to do photo shoots with me.

“They won’t allow me to go to any events with Princess because they think I am trash basically.

“Now, everyone knows she’s my daughter. So what difference does it make? If it wasn’t for me or Pete, Princess and Junior wouldn’t be known anyway.

“I find it an insult as I’ve been in the industry 30 years. I know this job inside and out.

“If there’s anyone better to advise or be there and guide Princess, it is me.”

But in response to Katie’s claims, The CAN Group told The Mirror: “As a company, our duty of care to our clients is paramount. We would never advise a client on their personal life unless asked and we have never stopped anyone seeing their families.”

Princess’ ‘unhappy’ childhood

The new ITV2 series, which will feature Princess’s older brother Junior and her dad Peter, begins on Sunday.

It also stars Pete’s second wife Emily, a doctor with whom he appears blissfully happy.

Princess lives full time with Peter, and has done since before she turned 18

In the fly-on-the-wall series, the teenager addresses the traumatic memories of her parents’ divorce, admitting she grew up in her household knowing her parents “didn’t like each other”.

“I did have a counsellor, I do still see her every now and then, ” she says in a first look clip.

“But I don’t feel like I can really talk, so I just write everything down in my notes.

“I do wish, like, I could have had a more happier childhood. In the sense of like, I had so many things on my plate at a young age.”

Princess started seeing the counsellor after a scary incident in South Africa in 2018.

She continued: “I wish sometimes that I wasn’t like that and I could have actually enjoyed…not had things in the back of my mind so young.”
