Dandadan Season 2 Episode 6 Recap

Out of nowhere, the Evil Eye bursts forth, but Momo reacts quickly, splashing him with hot water, which allows Jiji to regain control. The scene is unsettling, a reminder that this threat could surface at any time. To deal with it, the Hayashi musicians make their entrance. Styled like a rock band, they aren’t actually able to detect spirits, yet their music resonates into the spirit realm with incredible force.
As their set begins, the energy is electric, drawing swarms of spirits toward them. The song itself is infectiously catchy, and it clearly takes a toll on the Evil Eye. In true Dandadan fashion, the intensity is interrupted by an unexpected emotional turn. Jiji stops the fight, unwilling to let the Evil Eye be destroyed. He mourns the fact that the spirit, who was once just a child longing to play, would be gone forever without fulfilling that wish.

Moved by this, Seiko offers the Evil Eye a place in her family, leading to a surprisingly touching moment. From then on, Okarun and the others keep a close watch on Jiji, ensuring the Evil Eye doesn’t emerge unchecked. Meanwhile, Momo and Okarun commit to training and growing stronger to keep the danger at bay. The episode’s latter half shifts to a lighter mood, following Momo’s attempts to land a part-time job, and Okarun finding out about it.
Dandadan Season 2 Episode 7 Review

Today’s episode was very interesting as we started from the point where Momo and Okarun met at the maid cafe. Here, the whole sequence was hilarious as Momo tries her level best to serve Okarun and her friends without cringing. Later, Okarun offers to wait for Momo, but she swiftly declines. But, Okarun, being the green flag that he is, waits for her, and they hold hands voluntarily for the first time while walking.
That is not all, apart from the romance, we also got some pretty hectic scenes. Jiji finally manages to contain the Evil Eye within himself. But, the moment Aira unintentionally drops her drink on him, he swiftly goes for the kill towards Momo. He would have definitely choked her if she had not thought quickly enough and countered it. This interaction really scared everyone as the real threat of the Evil Eye became more apparent. Here, Okarun also shoved Jiji out of the way when he tried to see if he hurt Momo badly or not, and that led to a rift in their relationship.

They both understand that this is not a proper solution, and thus, Okarun decides to get stronger to properly counter the Evil Eye. He first goes to Peeny-Weeny to ask him about punching, but he straight out refuses. Later, Turbo Granny voluntarily comes to his rescue and promises to make him stronger. After that, Okarun, Turbo Granny, and Aira all go to their school, and their Turbo Granny dives deep into the power structure the token has.
Verdict

Today’s episode was definitely a mix of all genres, and I absolutely loved it. It effectively showcased romance in the first half, tension in the middle, and then a training segment in the last. I know for a fact that in the next episode, Okarun and the Evil Eye are going to fight, and one of them will come out as the clear winner. So yes, I am more hopeful about the next episode than ever before.
