Big Mistakes is an upcoming Netflix Original comedy series created by Rachel Sennott and Dan Levy. Both creators are executive producers on the project, while Levy also stars. Production is now underway as of August 2025, so here’s everything you need to know.
Levy shared a statement expressing his excitement about the project:
“I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix. Thrilled with the team we’re building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother.’ Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone.”
Big Mistakes will be the first show on Netflix produced by Levy since signing the overall deal with the streaming service and his production company, Not a Real Production Company.

What is the plot of Big Mistakes?
Details on the plot are limited, but we know the series centers on two siblings who are blackmailed into the world of organized crime. An updated, albeit still ambiguous logline reads, “Two deeply incapable siblings are blackmailed into the world of organized crime.”
Who are the cast members of Big Mistakes?
The initial announcements for the show confirmed that Dan Levy, Taylor Ortega, and Laurie Metcalf would headline as leads for the show. Levy and Ortega will play a pair of siblings in the series, while Metcalfe will portray their mother.
Dan Levy has starred in several projects for Netflix, including Unfrosted, where he played the role of Andy Warhol, and Good Grief, which he also directed, produced, wrote, and starred in. He also starred in the final season of Sex Education and voiced Chasten Barkley in the animated series Q-Force. Arguably, Levy is most well-known for his work on the smash hit comedy series Schitt’s Creek, which he created and starred in with his father, Eugene Levy.
Taylor Ortega recently starred in an episode of the Netflix comedy series The Four Seasons, but that’s the extent of her acting career on Netflix so far. She is most well-known for starring as Shego in the live-action Kim Possible TV movie. She has also starred in television shows such as Succession, What We Do in the Shadows, Ghosts, Party Down, and Welcome to Flatch.
Laurie Metcalf, in recent years, is arguably most well-known for her role as Mary Cooper in The Big Bang Theory; however, arguably her most beloved role is as Jackie Harris from Roseanne, which she reprised in its sequel show, The Conners, and starred in a total of 352 episodes across both shows. For Netflix, the actress has starred in Q-Force, Chicago Party Aunt, and Carol & the End of the World. She will also star in the upcoming third season of Ryan Murphy’s crime anthology Monster.
The cast was rounded out on August 13th with the following joining:
