KPop Demon Hunters isn’t behaving like a Netflix title. Now, in week 7, it’s the first week the movie hasn’t actually gained viewership week over week. That incredible performance has caused a lot of buzz about what’s next for the franchise, but a bigger question remains: can it finally beat Red Notice? It looks possible. Here’s your top 10 report!

Note: In this report of Netflix’s hours viewed from July 28, 2025, to August 3, 2025, we’ll use “Complete Viewings Equivalent,” or CVE, expressed in millions. That means we divide the hours viewed announced by Netflix by the runtime of films or series. It allows for better comparisons between films and series, but it’s not an audience metric. It is the minimum number of viewings if they were all complete from the first second to the last second of the film or season.

As always, let’s get into the weekly stats, noting that this week was the best on record, stretching back to June 13th, 2023, for English Film.

  • English TV – 40,900,000 views (Rank 77 of 111 weeks)
  • English Film – 138,900,000 (Rank 1 of 111 weeks)
  • Non-English TV – 29,600,000 (Rank 44 of 111 weeks)
  • Non-English Film – 19,100,000 (Rank 105 of 111 weeks)

1. KPop Demon Hunters Hits The All-Time Top 10 – Where Does It Ultimately Land?

KPop Demon Hunters continues to defy gravity this week with a hold on last week of 26.3M views, making it now the fourth most watched Netflix Original English language movie of all time with 158.70M views.

The number 2 position on the Netflix all-time top 10 looks easily attainable, and we should cross into that territory next week, but will it finally topple Red Notice, which will remain untouched at the top spot even after all these years? It’s possible. It’s got around 58.8M views to go, and we’ve 44 days to go. Putting in some projects that assume either a 0% drop decline (truly best case scenario) to a more traditional 20% or even 30% week-over-week decline, and things start looking achievable…

2. Leanne Makes A Low Debut, But Its Episode Count Is To Blame (For Now)

The new Chuck Lorre-produced multicam sitcom Leanne, headlined by Leanne Morgan, debuted last week to just 2.7M views. That’s based on a viewing hours of 14.9M, but because of its unusual 16-episode count, that pushes the views lower (more runtime to divide the hours by). This should play into the show’s advantage in weeks 2-4, with Netflix viewers getting more into the series, but we’re cautiously going to be watching this one in the weeks to come.

3. Netflix Should Renew The Hunting Wives (Somehow)

One show that’s particularly hard to measure against other shows is The Hunting Wives, given that it was exclusively licensed to Netflix in the US only for one year and without Netflix Original branding. The show has already been sold in international regions, making a renewal for Netflix alone a bit of a messy proposition, given they usually only like funding shows if they’ve got the global rights.

That said, with the show still topping the global charts despite its one region availability and FlixPatrol suggesting the show was only just knocked off the top 10, it’s resonating.

Week in Top 10 Week Period Hours Viewed Views / CVE Weekly Rank
1 July 20th, 2025 to July 27th, 2025 34,600,000 (New) 5,200,000 3
2 July 27th, 2025 to August 3rd, 2025 38,500,000 (+11%) 5,800,000 2

Lionsgate even just issued a press release praising the series debut and touting the Liminate rankings where the series actually topped the charts with 2B minutes viewed. They state that, “Lionsgate pivoted the show to Netflix and put together a viral grassroots marketing campaign to support its launch.”

4. Conversations with a Killer and the final Trainwreck

As we’ve witnessed all Summer, Netflix’s format of producing documentaries under a moniker has been paying dividends. The Joe Berlinger crime docu-series is back after three years to a very disappointing 3.4M views. Even when compared to Berlinger’s other “franchises” such as Cold Case or Crime Scene, the numbers don’t reflect particularly well…

Trainwreck concluded its eight-entry run for the summer last week with its coverage of the viral incident known as Storm Area 51. It debuted to 7M views, which puts it first amongst the middle of the pack with Poopcruise, with a ridiculous 21.1M views, the Trainwreck king.

5. My Oxford Year

Sofia Carson is in a brand new Netflix movie, and given that she’s already got quite a few under her belt, we can now put together the Sofia Carson movie opening chart! The movie is her second biggest opening, slightly ahead of The Life List from earlier this year, but ultimately behind Carry-On. Perhaps it was the involvement of Corey Mylchreest, the British theme, or how well the book sold that gave this movie the edge but either way, Sofia Carson is a certified Netflix star.

Where does the movie stack up in the 2025 English language list? Around the middle of the pack, just behind Kinda Pregnant but ahead of The Life List and La Dolce Villa.

6. Happy Gilmore 2 in Week 2

Happy Gilmore 2 made headlines last week for a new accolade Netflix carved out: best US opening weekend for a film ever. While we’re still waiting for more stats from the likes of Nielsen to back that up, it was close to Red Notice based on stats from SambaTV. But the question we’re all waiting for the answer to is, will the movie hit the all-time top 10? With a 13% decline from week 1 to 2, it’s too early to call, but it is currently trailing Carry-On and Back in Action, but ever so slightly ahead of Damsel, which now rounds out the all-time most watched.

7. Unspeakable Sins Debuts

Netflix Mexico has had a string of successes so far in 2025, but can its new series, Unspeakable Sins, carry on the streak? Somewhat is the answer. With 5.1M views in its debut week, that puts it on par with Bandidos (which did get a season 2) and ahead of One Hundred Years of Solitude and The Secret of the River (and The Gringo Hunters, which is probably one of the biggest misses of the year).

That’s it for this week, and for something a little different, let’s play a game! Wednesday S2 volume 1 debuts tomorrow, but will it debut to higher or lower views than season 1 did back in November 2022? For reference, it pulled in 52.6M views in its first week.
