Beyond the Bar Episode 6 was really good, as the case that was explored was unique and complicated. Hae-in almost got intimately involved with one of the accused, which is not allowed, and that showcased an intriguing side of the law.

Beyond the Bar Episode 6 Recap
Today’s case is quite intriguing as it deals with consent and relationships. Hae-in gets a case where the girlfriend wants to sue her boyfriend, Han-seok, who performed sadistic acts on her that left deep scars on her body. Though she consented to these acts when she was in love, her boyfriend soon broke up with her, and as she is a model by profession, her life took a drastic turn because of those scars. Recognizing the complexity of the case, Attorney Yoon accepts it, believing that the claim, that her consent was shaped by love and a weakened ability to decide for herself, presents a strong argument.
Apart from that, we also see some noticeable changes within the law firm as a new female head has been appointed, who is also the mentor of attorney Yoon. She was ousted at first on baseless claims, but now she is back with more power than ever before. We get to see that Mr Ko did this because he just wants Yoon and his mentor to be the scapegoats and plans to come back to power, when they will not be able to handle the law firm anymore. Thus, an apparent internal struggle is also happening in Yullim.
In this episode, we also get to see the harrowing past of Min-jeong, who used to be an overweight housewife, constantly berated by her in-laws and her husband. He did not think about her or their daughter once and divorced her mercilessly. Now, the woman with whom he cheated has come back to Min-jeong, because she wants to get a divorce herself. Needless to say, Min-jeong rejects her right away and sends her back.
Later, we see that the very boyfriend who is going to get sued, Han-seok, by Hae-in, is the one approaching her at a bar. He becomes very interested when he gets to know that she will take his case and sees this as a new challenge. Hae-in also becomes visibly disturbed throughout the episode as she seems to kind of get swayed by his advances. On the other hand, we also see that Min-jeong and Jin-woo might be having a relationship that can get more footage later in the story. Previously, he had no idea that Min-jeong was married, and once he gets to know, he becomes shocked, which proves that he might have feelings for her.
Finally, the case with Han-seok and his ex-girlfriend comes to a conclusion, and it was handled very differently from all the other cases that we have seen before. They reach a settlement, but it happens while keeping the claims of both parties in mind. Han-seok does not get sued, but at least he gets an earful, and his girlfriend breaks up with him with dignity.
Beyond the Bar Episode 6 Review
I really liked today’s episode as we got to see something different than the usual courtroom drama. The episode was a lot more about human emotions and relationships than the other episodes of this season, giving a different watching experience. Towards the end, we got to see the introduction of a new character who can become an important angle in Yoon’s life.
