Beyond the Bar Episode 4 Recap

This episode begins with an interesting set of characters as we see a rich CEO, Cheol-min, playing golf with lawyers from the Yullim Law Firm and specifically asking for Yoon Seok-hoon to handle his case because of his reputation. Yoon’s peers are worried that he will not take the job, and they plan to entrap him into agreeing. After this, the meeting with the CEO happens, and Yoon gets to know that the CEO plans to file a defamation lawsuit against his housekeeper.
Surprisingly, Yoon agrees to take on this case despite his well-known strict stance when it comes to matters involving abuse. Kang Hyo-min gets the duty to contact the housekeeper and get her side of the story. There, she gets to know that the CEO is a monster who beats his child mercilessly on a regular basis. However, later we also get to know that the housekeeper had criminal charges against her, and she might be lying for money.

As Hyo-min mindlessly reprimanded Yoon for siding with the rich CEO, she readily apologised for her behaviour after she realised she could be wrong. Later, when Yoon goes to the CEO’s house to investigate himself, he finds that his daughter indeed gets fidgety around her father. Even after this, Yoon really threatens the housekeeper with legal action and convinces her to settle outside of court. The housekeeper relents, and she even signs an affidavit stating that she will not report such things anymore.
Later, at night, Hyo-min goes to Yoon, and she confronts him directly. Here, he also showed her the actual picture of how things are and how his hands are also tied because the CEO is beyond powerful. However, after a few days, Hyo-min sees that something fishy has been going on in Yoon’s office. Later, both Hyo-min and Yoon go to the CEO’s house as he again beat his daughter, and she ran away from home. When Yoon goes there, he finds the daughter in a really bad shape, and he immediately takes her to a hospital in the name of covering up evidence for the CEO.

Later, we get to know that Yoon has been collecting evidence against the CEO all along. In a fit of rage, Yoon goes to the CEO’s house and beats the crap out of him. He also makes sure to let the CEO’s actual boss know about all the money he embezzled from him, making the boss himself apprehend the CEO.
Yoon was definitely very much invested emotionally in this case, and we see why. He always wanted to be a father and have his own kids, but that luck never came to him. Here, we get to know that he does not have a child, and he was just co-parenting a dog with his ex-wife.
Beyond the Bar Episode 4 Review

This episode was emotionally powerful and had a riveting conclusion. I absolutely love the way the characters were humanised and showcased, allowing their true personalities, flaws, and strengths to shine through. The layered storytelling, combined with the raw emotional beats, made every moment feel earned. This was a truly compelling and memorable episode, and I hope the next one delivers the same level of depth.
