Can you feel it? Summer is coming to an end… Fall is just around the corner, and that means the bulk of Netflix’s biggest swings for the year are just around the corner. There’s still some time to go, though, and there are some more fantastic titles to look forward to over the next seven days.
As always, let’s get into some highlights before diving into the complete list of what’s in store over the next seven days in the US.
Most Anticipated New Releases on Netflix This Week
Extant (Seasons 1-2)

Getting a second shot at life on Netflix this week (which you can begin streaming right now) is Extant, a forgotten sci-fi series from CBS that was a big swing for the network in the mid-2010s but sadly, didn’t quite get to orbit, leading to a relatively quick cancellation. Still, it’s very much worth a watch with the show picking up glowing reviews throughout its run and available on its streaming home of Paramount+.
Executive produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Halle Berry, the plot centers on Molly Woods (played by Berry), an astronaut who returns to Earth after spending a 13-month solo mission in outer space. Upon her return, she is trying to reconnect with her husband, John, a robotics scientist, and their “son” Ethan, a human-like android known as a “humanich.”
Broke (2025)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday
We’ve been witnessing a trend with some of Netflix’s biggest shows and movies, and we call it the Yellowstone-ification. It’s no secret that series has a huge audience globally, and we’ve seen a bunch of titles from Netflix engineered to fit into that mould, and they tend to do well, see Untamed! Also fitting that mold is this new movie from Sony Pictures, which didn’t manage to get a theatrical release and instead went straight to VOD.
Directed by Carlyle Eubank, the story follows True Brandywine, a bareback bronc rider who is in denial about his fading rodeo career. He becomes trapped in a sudden spring blizzard and, while fighting for his survival, is forced to confront his life choices and the events that led him to his current predicament. Wyatt Russell, Dennis Quaid, Auden Thornton, and Mary McDonnell star.
The Truth About Jussie Smollett (2025)
Coming to Netflix: Friday
This one is going to be controversial. Jussie Smollett, as you may know, was found to be lying when he said he was the victim of a hate crime, which smeared his reputation and no doubt had other far-reaching implications. Now, years later, he’s looking to set the record straight himself with a sit-down interview in addition to interviews with “police, lawyers, journalists, and investigators.”
It comes from the producers of Netflix’s Don’t F**k with Cats and Tinder Swindler and hopes to provide all the facts and let you come to your own conclusions. I’m a little surprised with how little traction this has gotten so far on social media and on the video itself on YouTube, but come this Friday, we suspect you’ll be seeing lots of media surrounding it.
