The Nice Guy Episode 7 Recap

Episode 7 picks up with Seok-cheol arriving at the café where Mi-yeong works. He immediately senses that something is troubling her, but Mi-yeong keeps quiet, hiding the fact that Tae-hoon has confronted and likely threatened her. Later, back at her apartment, Mi-yeong embraces Seok-cheol and asks if he would truly stand up to those who try to hurt her. Without hesitation, he assures her that he would. In a moment of vulnerability, she asks him to stay the night, seeking comfort in his presence.
The next morning, Seok-cheol returns home to find Gyeong-geun watering a plant named after their mother. With a hint of sarcasm, he remarks that at least the child is grateful, a comment that provokes an unspoken reaction from their father, Sil-gon. Sil-gon later enters Seok-cheol’s room but leaves without revealing exactly what is on his mind, the tension between them quietly lingering.

Elsewhere, Seok-kyung continues to sink into sadness, missing her young son deeply. At the same time, Seok-hee and Ki-hong finally address the events of the previous night. Ki-hong attempts to explain himself, but Seok-hee is resolute, telling him she wants to break up. She makes her decision without wavering. Soon after, Seok-hee receives a call from her mother, who asks her to bring over some side dishes. Seok-hee sees this as an opportunity to have her mother meet Seok-kyung, hoping it might lead to forgiveness.

Seok-kyung, thinking she is about to see her son, prepares excitedly and even asks Byung-soo for assistance. However, events take an unexpected turn when her mother arrives with a friend. Byung-soo tries to shield Seok-kyung from the encounter, but his efforts fail. Mother and daughter come face to face. The reunion begins harshly, with the mother hitting and yelling at Seok-kyung for her past mistakes. Yet, the anger eventually softens, and the two share a simple meal of ramen, a quiet sign that their bond, while strained, is not completely broken.
In the meantime, the assassination plot against Tae-hoon moves forward. Tae-hoon learns of the plan through a spy he has tasked with following Mi-yeong. His obsession with her has only intensified since she called to warn him to stop his intimidation tactics. The spy informs Tae-hoon that Seok-cheol has been chosen to kill him, though in reality, Seok-cheol has already refused to take the job. Not knowing this, Tae-hoon’s anger towards Seok-cheol grows, and he begins to plot something malicious in return.

Seok-cheol, unaware that his boss has reassigned the job to someone else, goes about his daily life. In one touching moment, he saves a young man from being recruited into gang life, encouraging him instead to focus on education and a better future. His sense of loyalty and compassion remains at odds with the world he operates in. When Seok-cheol eventually learns that Du-sik, a mild-mannered family man, has been tasked with killing Tae-hoon, he confronts his boss, questioning why someone so vulnerable would be given such a dangerous job. Matters worsen when it emerges that Du-sik has gone missing.
Meanwhile, Mi-yeong’s dream career begins to take shape. She works closely with her manager on producing a song, pouring her energy into the process. Days later, she finally records her track, only to discover that Tae-hoon was the one who recommended her to the production company. Outside the studio, the two have a tense exchange. Mi-yeong demands that he stop interfering in her life, making it clear that his actions are harming her rather than helping. Tae-hoon, unable to grasp how damaging his behaviour is, grabs her by the wrist to stop her from leaving.

At that moment, Seok-cheol arrives and witnesses the scene. His patience snaps as he steps in, confronting Tae-hoon with visible fury. The episode closes on this charged confrontation, leaving the tension between the three at its peak.
The Nice Guy Episode 7 Review
Seok-cheol once again at the heart of it all! His protective nature towards Mi-yeong is touching, yet the episode shows how little she shares about the threats she faces, keeping him in the dark about Tae-hoon’s harassment. The family dynamics remain one of the show’s strongest threads, from Sil-gon’s unspoken frustrations to the raw and messy reunion between Seok-kyung and her mother, where anger eventually gives way to a quiet, shared meal. These moments ground the drama, reminding viewers that beneath the gang politics and crime plots lie deeply personal battles.

On the darker side, the assassination subplot pushes the tension higher, with Tae-hoon’s misguided obsession spiralling further out of control. Seok-cheol’s moral conflict is compelling here, as he stands firm in refusing the kill order, yet learns his boss has placed the burden on someone entirely unsuited for the job. The episode also delivers a cruel twist for Mi-yeong, whose hard-earned career break is tainted by Tae-hoon’s involvement. The final scene, with Seok-cheol walking in on Tae-hoon grabbing Mi-yeong, sets the stage for a volatile clash, promising that the next chapter will see emotions and tempers reach breaking point.
