Whale Store XOXO Episode 7 Review: Cute, Heartfelt and Adorable!

In the last episode, things got sweet and serious between Wan and Maewnam after their explosive confession in episode 6. However, Mouse Mart’s impending arrival might just bring in a storm for their relationship. Meanwhile, Tonnam and Chom move in together at the latter’s family home!

Whale Store XOXO Episode 7 has a runtime of 48 minutes.

The series is adapted from the novel “The Whale Store” (คุณวาฬร้านชำ The Whale Store ร้านนี้ไม่มีรักขาย) by Snow Leopard (เสือดาวหิมะ).

The episode opens after the eventful night in episode 6 as Wan and Maewnam wake up with each other in bed. The morning after, Wan gets a surprise visit from Maewnam’s mother, who immediately whisks her daughter away. The two have an icy chat and her mother advices her to tell Wan to do something else because Mouse Mart will open in the area no matter what. Maewnam later tells Wan the truth about what her mother said, and the two promise to keep the business out of their relationship.

Elsewhere, Chom and Tonnam map out how they will convince Som about their relationship and Tonnam becomes extremely attentive to her. They eventually meet Wan at her store and it’s a sweet moment for everyone, including telling Wan that her store sign isn’t the best! Meanwhile, Tonnam tries her best to get Som to like her and it ends in her doing the whole housework and then Som’s nails.

That night, Maewnam creates a slideshow of all the things Wan’s store does better than Mouse Mart, giving her hope that things will be ok and giving her a strategy to distinguish herself from a chain grocery store. With Maewnam’s encouragement, Wan starts to upgrade the store before the mart opens its doors.

After the renovations are done, the first few days go off without a hitch but soon, Maewnam and Wan find people around them to be going to Mouse Mart for things more and more. At Chom’s, Tonnam blows up at Som for incessantly bashing her daughter’s homemaking skills and implying that no man will want her. Chom comforts her girlfriend when she comes back home and tells her that she’s thankful that Tonnam stood up for her. Eventually, Chom just decides to tell her mother the truth.

At the grocery store, Wan sadly tells Maewnam that sales have dropped in half, resulting in the latter coming up with an idea of taking the store to people instead of waiting for them to come to it. Two weeks after soome aggressive marketing, however, the sales just keep dropping. Although Wan is demotivated, Maewnam gives her hope and tells her to keep fighting. Their hard work pays off when their social media post goes off and customers arrive at the store to see Wan’s cat Som!

Whale Store XOXO Episode 7 Review

The series continues to be absolutely adorable as Wan and Maewnam continue to be each other’s biggest strengths. With such a huge problem like Mouse Mart standing in their way, I like how these characters can be a source of hope for one another. Of course, it’s Maewnam who is the trut champ her and this entire thing works because Milk Pansa Vosbein and Love Pattranite Limpatiyakorn have incredible chemistry.

About the other couple, I am glad that Chom is finally trying to take her relationship forward but maybe making Tonnam work so hard with her insufferable mother isn’t the way to do that. I feel like convincing your parents about your partner should be your job, not your partner’s, so this just rubs me the wrong way. Either way, Som is absolutely insufferable and the way she talks about her daughter is disturbing. Half of the time I feel like skipping her scenes because she is neither funny nor endearing, just triggering.

Either way, loving the direction the story is taking. Let’s hope this continues to be a mature and deep show with a side of adorable!
